1938: Waterlow Pictorial issue, Essay for the proposed 1 d. value 'English Harbour', hand-painted in deep crimson and pale red with clouds in Chinese white on card (117 x 70 mm.) in vertical format, similar to the design of the issued (horizontal) 1 d. value, painted by the designer A.
