 Lot 141 - united states draped bust half cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841806 C-4 R1 Large Repunched 6 NGC graded MS62 Brown. Very attractive lustrous medium steel brown and light chocolate with at least 5% of the mint red remaining. Mint frost covers the fields and protected areas on both sides. The only defects are a few microscopic marks in the field very close to the upper lip and a spot of slightly darker toning on the top of the E in CENT. MDS, Manley state 2.0. The repunching on the 6 is gone and the reverse is rotated 25 degrees CW from the normal head-to-foot die orientation. Sharpness G4 but there are a half dozen sharp rim nicks on the reverse and a couple light scratches inside the wreath. Otherwise the surfaces are smooth showing only minor contact marks consistent with the grade. Glossy medium chocolate brown with slightly lighter steel brown toning on the devices. The date is clear and the overdate feature is obvious. E-MDS, Manley state 2.0. The curl left of the date is complete and minor crumbling shows between the I & B in LIBERTY.  Lot 136 - united states draped bust half cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841805 C-2 R5 Small 5 with Stems PCGS Genuine Good Details Bent. Rather glossy medium steel brown on the devices with darker steel and chocolate toning covering the fields and protected areas. The devices are mostly smooth while very fine roughness covers the rest of the planchet. A slight upward bend in the planchet along the right edge of the obverse has resulted in extra wear on the right side of the wreath. In addition there are several planchet voids in that area, strongest at F-A and traces of light greenish crust in protected areas around F-AMER. The date is complete and clear and the legends are nearly complete. Our grade is G5+ sharpness net AG3+. The eye appeal is not as bad as the description might imply. The surfaces are smooth and display only a few trivial contact marks. A dull diagonal nick over the top of the wreath is a good identifying mark. This piece is covered with a very thin layer of dirt that dulls the natural gloss. A bath may be indicated here to maximize the eye appeal. LDS, Manley state 5.0.  Lot 147 - united states draped bust half cents - Ira & Larry Goldberg Coins & Collectibles, Inc. Pre-Long Beach Auction #841807 C-1 R1 VF30. Glossy dark steel brown and chocolate. Close to VF35 but there are two parallel nicks on the bust just below the neck and a pair of shallow planchet flakes in the field off the upper end of the hair ribbon. EDS, Manley state 1.0, with dentils all the way around the obverse and sharp repunching visible on the 7. This piece was double struck. The first strike was slightly off center. The planchet was then flipped over and restruck properly. The neck of Ms Liberty is clearly visible on the wreath bow and the lower part of all 4 digits of the date show on the rim at UNI. A curved depression inside the top of the wreath is from the back of the head leading into the hair ribbon. While there are obvious remnants of the off-center obverse showing on the reverse, there is no trace of an undertype on the obverse. A neat mint error that offers excellent eye appeal. Glossy medium chocolate brown and olive with steel brown toning on the devices. E-MDS, Manley state 1.0. Repunching is visible at the top and bottom of the Large 6 and the strike is sharper than usually seen on this variety. The reverse is rotated 20 degrees CW.
