Egyptian postal boycott of Israel: 6 MR 1956 pp'd air letter ex PORT TAUFIQ PAQUEBOT (UK ship) to KARKUR, pre-franked 6d & tied by PT-P pmk; passed Cairo censor using K-Type-5 h/s (#73) but marked "no service return to origin" in manuscript - from 1948 to early '56 Egyptian "no service" & "return" markings applied in manuscript and not IM h/s; returned to sender undelivered & resent, b/s 7-4-56 TLV-21 arr. Rare: this only known example of postkrieg "no service" to Israel paquebot mail. Ships passing Suez Canal in 1956 routinely intercepted by Egypt, to confiscate Israeli-bound goods.
