1900/1925 (approx). Extensive correspondence between Eda and Martin Koehler. Eda, née Dilger, was the daughter of Hubert C. A. Dilger (1836/1911), "... a German immigrant to the United States who became a decorated artillerist in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He was noted as one of the finest artillerists in the Army of the Potomac, receiving the Medal of Honor for his valiant work at the 1863 Battle of Chancellorsville" (wikipedia). He died at his home near Front Royal, Virginia. The couple's correspondence usually takes place between their father-in-law's place of residence in Front Royal and the couple's place of residence in Mannheim, Germany. Especially many letters from the years 1910/11 are preserved. In addition, there are letters to changing addressees, e.g. a lawyer's letter to Martin Koehler about Dilgers estate matters. At a rough estimate 250 covers, letters and postal cards in all.
