1918, Resurrection of Poland, for the design of the 1st definitve issue of Poland an artist's competition was set in place. 32 artists were invited to hand in their proposals, which were issued in four booklets showing the artwork in the colours green, blue, brown and black respectively. At the end of each booklet the 13 chosen designs were shown (those of the artists Bartlomiejczyk and Trojanowski) - in various colours. All these designs are showing the inscription "Krolestwo Polskie", since a kingdom was intended to be the form of governement of the prospective Polish state. This is the booklet with all 148 essays in blue colour, the booklet cover and a few inter-leaves with some imperfections, the essays itself in good condition. Not many complete booklets have survived since most of the essays have been cut out.
