There are many highlights in the Australian Coins including Three Australian 1930 Pennies. One is graded in a VF/VF and the others are gF and aF and are Reserved at $17,000 and 16,000 and $10,000 respectively (Lots 5846, 5848 and 5847). This auction also includes a VERY RARE 1852 Adelaide Assay Office Pound Type II, Earlier die state with slight edge weakness around 3 o'clock & corresponding position on rev. Some surface mks. Nice strong colours, a couple of tiny, not visible unless note is held to the light, repaired margin nicks. gFor better but looks VF. McD 69a Cat F $65,000, VF $120,000. One of the rarest Australian notes issued with only a handful known. (Lot 6678). Also in the Australian issues - £1 Collins-Allen WWI Emergency issue or Rainbow Pound last prefix. F 554209 F. Note has had considerable restoration, the paper has been strengthened, the note being stiffer & thicker than a normal note. R-20bL. F appearance. McD cat $36,000. A presentable budget example for the collector who prefers not to spend $25,000 or so on a better example. Reserve $ 7,500 (Lot 6607) .
World coins and banknotes, including Gold, silver and copper coins, medals and World Banknotes . In the World Coins is a GB 1687 TERTIO James II 5/-. Well struck, very slight hay marking o/w Practically as struck. Tiny natural reverse rim indentation near 16 of date (not an edge knock). Nicer than any example that has been offered for sale of at auction in recent years. Definitely a wow coin. S-3407 cat EF £4250, unpriced higher . Reserve $8,000 (Lot 7260). Also in the world banknote section is a China Central Bank of The Republic of China ND (c1923) 10 Cents (1 Hao) pr. Issued by Grand Marshal Sun Yat-sen of a self proclaimed government in Guangzhou Canton. Unlisted in catalogues, only 7-10 single notes known. This pr could be unique. A similar grade single note sold for RMB 92,000 (AUD $18,000) at Hosane Auction, Shanghai 19 Dec 2011 lot 2856 and a pair always worth considerably more. Reserve $20,000 ( Lot 7617).
