Auction # 2547 WORLDWIDE + ARGENTINA: Special December auction

Large part of a folded cover sent by steamship Nile from Glasgow to Lima in JUN/1876, on arrival on 1/JUL it received 10c. in postage dues (pair of Sc.J2) to pay the local rate (which was charged until Peru joined UPU in 1879), one of the postage due stamps was torn when the cover was opened, all the same interesting and very attractive piece, low start!

2/NO/1879 IQUIQUE (still Peruvian) to England, cover franked with 30c., on back transit mark of Lima 8/NO and arrival of 29/DE, very fine quality, sent during the war with Chile, interesting!

RATE OF PRINTED MATTER TO SWITZERLAND: Unsealed cover that contained printed matter or a personal card, franked with 3c. (Sc.38 and 39!!) and sent to Lausanne in DE/1881, with arrival mark on back of 30/JA/1887, excellent quality, rare!

RARE POSTAGE: Mourning cover sent from Lima to Paris on 16/JA/1884 franked with 11c., arrival backstamp of 27/FE, it was carried by the paquebot Colombie, and the postage includes 2 examples of Sc.82 (1883 5c. ultramarine with "UPU PLATA LIMA" overprints and triangle, rare, and of excellent quality!

FE/1885 Arequipa to Paris, cover franked with 1c. combining stamp of 10c. Coat of arms with embossed grid with local overprint AREQUIPA inside double circle (Sc.3N15) + 1c. Sun with triangular overprint, cancelled by straightline "AREQUIPA" perfectly applied, on back transit mark of Lima 17/FE and Paris arrival 27/MAR, VF quality, rare!

16/JA/1886 Callao to USA via Panama, cover franked with 55c. (fivefold rate), including 5 stamps of 1c. with triangular overprint, on back there is a transit mark of New York and Asbury Park arrival, very fine quality, rare!

18/SE/1891 Arequipa to New York via Panama, cover with printed corner card "Tipografía Mercantil", franked with 11c. with a nice double oval cancellation of Arequipa, on back it has transit mark of Lima 27/SE and arrival of 26/OC, very fine quality!

UNDERPAID AND WITH DUES: Cover sent on 14/SEP/1895, franked with 10c., from Huamachuco to New York, via Payta, where it was chargemarked for the unpaid 1c. (for transit via Panama), with double circle "T" instructional, on back it has transit marks of Payta, New York, and arrival of Saint Louis 4/OC where it received a 2c. postage due stamp, excellent quality, rare!

15/MAR/1898 Lima to Boston, cover sent via Panama franked with 24c. (2c. late fee + 22c. rate via Panama), attractive violet mark "CORREO DE ÚLTIMA HORA", on back transit mark and arrival of 2/AP, excellent quality!

18/AP/1899 Piura to New York, cover franked with 22 stamps of 1c. (Sc.142) to pay the 22c. double rating + 2c. transit fee via isthmus of Panama, arrival mark of 3/MAY, excellent quality, splendid!

Rare 2c. card (postal stationery) WITH VIEW PRINTED ON BACK (city of Iquitos, ships) + additional postage of 2c., sent from Lima to France on 25/SE/1901, with arrival mark of 26/OC, excellent quality!
