1935 (Oct 25) use of GB long 4½d Registered letter to Melbourne, uprated 1/- blk of six & 1½d for 2-2½oz rate, carried on Imperial Airways flight IE387 where Astraea, when landing Nov 2 at Rangoon, skidded on a wet runway & crashed through the boundary fence, sl damaging the starboard wing tip & cabin floor. The Captain was hurt & mail load was transferred to Arethusa, departing 2 days later. Melbourne arrival (Nov 10). A significant incident of which very few are recorded to Australia. Sanford #351102.
