Mandate postal markings: 7 DE 1934 stampless local JERUSALEM OHMS cover from Criminal Investigation Department to Chief Rabbi Yaakov Meir, tied by Sacher unlisted dated red circular CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION DEPARTMENT | HQ | PALESTINE POLICE cachet + "certified official" instructional marking handstamp & strike of local postmark; unsealed. Rabbi Meir (1856–1939) was the first Sephardic Chief Rabbi of Palestine, from 1921, with the establishment of the Chief Rabbinate of Palestine, and assumed the title of "Rishon le-Zion" as has since become custom; Meir studied Talmud under Rabbi Menachem Bechor Yitzhak and Kabbalah under Rabbi Aharon Azriel.
