Local Hebrew Ottoman post/Small Locales: 20 FEB 1913 strike of rare violet Aioun Cara postmark (Ba 810v) tied to Ottoman 20 Para frank on picture-postcard (Tuck's) from AIOUN CARA (Rishon LeZion) to ROSH PINA, written in Hebrew; backstamped 22 FEB 1913 HAIFA transit (Ba791 postmark). Collins/Steichele (p.40) notes that "this postmark is very rarely clearly struck". Addressed Segal family is closely identified with early Jewish settlement in Holyland; "H. Segal" may be Haim Yona Segal, the "butcher from Rosh Pina" per Tidhar's 'Encyclopedia' (vol. 3 p. 1177); his wife, to whom the card is addressed was Leah. Est value $1500+
