Indian States POONCH to Germany 1890 Franked on obverse with 1anna red on white, prepaying local postage only on cover to Hamburg, tied native KAHUTA cds, via Bombay.
there is no evidence that cover was ever franked by Indian stamps& it shows 'T' axed in circle & boxed 'Postage Due-1 anna' from Bombay. Upon arrival in Germany was taxed 40 Pf. representing the double charge of 2.5 annas. Presumably the Indian stamps were stolen at the Kahuta PO, still a scarce cover to a foreign dest. from Poonch.
