1855 (August): 1 d. red-brown on very blued paper, Die II, Alphabet III, Plate 24, wmk. Small Crown, perf. 14, lettered KC, a used example showing the "Gothic K", lightly cancelled by London numeral obliterator in black. An abnormal issue, a few sheets only were produced on the remaining Small Crown paper from the first plates of Alphabet III (22-27). Slight bends not affecting the appearance, two slightly nibbed perforations at base mentioned for accuracy only, a fine example of a very scarce stamp. Cert. BPA (1969), BPA (2020) Gi C7h = £ 900+.rn
