Austrian offices in Syria 1869 (Oct 25): Entire letter from Beyrouth to Genova, franked by 1867 coarse whiskers 3 s. green, 5 s. rose (2) and 15 s. brown, four fresh and fine adhesives, tied by "BERUTTI 25 / 10" cds's (Tranmer fig. 3) in brownish black. Reverse with LLOYD AGENZIE SMIRNE and Brindisi transit as well as Genova arrival cds's (Nov. 5). Attractive three-colour franking paying the journey with Austrian vessel to Smyrna and from there with Italian vessel to Brindisi, further on with Italian railway (15 s. Lloyd & 13 s. Italy).
