1858 (June 28): Great Britain 1856 6 d. lilac used on 1858 entire letter to Whitehaven tied by bold strike of "A02" obliterator of St. John's. Reverse with ANTIGUA double arc cds (June 28) in black, London cds in blue (July 17) and Whitehaven and Egremont cds's (July 18) in black. The earliest recorded usage of British stamps at St. John's (see Parmenter & Gordon page 6/6). A fine and rare entire.
