1878: Morazan 1 c. violet, a horizontal strip of three used on 1881 underpaid cover to Arthur Maury in Paris, France tied by barred obliterators in black with circular "ADMINISTRACION de / CORREOS / TEGUCIGALPA" despatch at left (Nov 12) with framed "H / T" Tax marking above. Carried on French Paquebot "St. Simon" from Colon with octagonal "PANAMA-UNION / PAQ. F.D. No. 2" datestamp (Salles fig. 1502) in black (Dec 23). Reverse with Paris arrival cds's Jan 21, 1882 and charged there at "35 c." due to pay in blue crayon. Minor imperfections but the earliest recorded taxed Honduras cover and of great scarcity. Ex the Brian Moorhouse estate.
