A recipient, a Dr. E. C. Black, noticed the differences and asked the Post Office if this was a new issue. The perpetrator, Charles Jackson and the engraver, Henry Elderfield, were eventually jailed after sending Dr. Black his forged tickets on an envelope franked by the forged Sydney Harbour Bridge 2 d. adhesive. Many of the examples of this excellent forgery found by the Police were defaced.
