Corinphila Auction 291-297 Day 3

1872/77: Cérès 1 c. olive-green in a horizointal strip of three and single 15 c. bistre, with good to large margins all round, used on Coconada "Revue Commerciale" Newspaper mailed to Dunkerque tied by neat strikes of "INDE / PONDICHERY" circular datestamps in black (May 11); paying the 18 c. rate by British packet. Carried from Bombay by P&O "Kashgar" to Suez. Poor strike of "Col. Fr. V Suez Alexandrie" in red and thence from Alexandria on the "Pera" to Brindisi. Reverse with Paris and Dunkerque (June 6) cds's. A magnificent and very rare usage. Signed Calves.
