1854: 1d red-brown "stars" wmk. small crown lettered (NE) tied by London 78 to mourning enveloppe addressed to the dramatist and producer T.J. Serle in the hand of and endorsed on bottom left by CHARLES DICKENS. The flap of the envelope bears the distinctive garter seal and "D" of the great author, fine and rare.
