Competition Essays 1911 (May 31, closing date): Essay for proposed 1 d. value, hand-painted in black on thick card (100 x 126 mm.), with "Postage" at either side of vignette of Cockatoo, "One Penny" tablet (in Boomerang form) above Duck-billed Platypus and "Australia" at base; together with the stamp size Essays (3) all in reddish purple, one as before with Cockatoo vignette, the second with George V head-plate and the third with Kangaroo vignette; all possibly proposed by E. T. Luke of Montana, Beaconsfield, Victoria who was on the staff of the Melbourne Age Newspaper.
