"Split Rates" 1863/72: 2 d. pale blue and 1 s. yellow used on 1870 registered mourning envelope to London tied by "B53" obliterators in black with over-inking at right, struck with "REGISTERED / No. 23" in red and "9d." Accountancy marking being the credit for UK, with '3' pence in blue crayon for the registration charge. Carried on the French steamer "Ermine" to Aden and "Said" from Alexandria. London arrival on obverse in red (April 11). A most attractive and scarce cover.rnNote: Rate of 1867 regulation 11d. for under ½ ounce + 3d. registration.
