"Split Rates" 1863/72: 4 d. rose and pair of 1 s. yellow used on 1867 cover to Aden endorsed "p. Str. Mozambique", tied by "B53" obliterators in black, paying the double rate under 1 ounce. Struck on despatch with "1/8d." Accountancy marking in red for amount due to the UK. Carried by French Steamer to Aden via Mahe with reverse showing Mauritius despatch (Feb 18) and 'Aden Str. Point' arrival (March 2). Side flaps missing but rare.rnNote: For a short period in 1866/67 mail to Aden was erroneously charged at 1/2d. rather than 1s. per ½ ounce.
