1845 (May 18): Cover from Port Louis to Bordeaux endorsed "via Marseilles" and "Acbar" (East India Co. vessel) from Bombay, where struck with oval "INDIA" in red (denoting unpaid sea postage). From Aden to Suez per "Queen" and thence on "Iberia" to Malta and "HMS Acheron" to Marseille (July 30) where charged '19' décimes for a 10 gram letter. A fine and unusual usage.
