1844: Entire letter from Port Louis to Bordeaux endorsed "Indus via Liverpool" with reverse showing "MAURITIUS / POST OFFICE" despatch cds in black (July 27), landed Waterford, Ireland with double arc cds (Nov 8) and two line "WATERFORD / SHIP-LETTER" (Robertson fig. S2) alongside framed "TOO LATE" all in black. London transit (Nov 11) and struck there with framed "COLONIES / &c. ART.12" in red. Thence via Boulogne and charged '20' décimes due on arrival. A rare usage and a most attractive cover with all strikes very fine.
