First Solo Flight, Europe to North America 1932 (Aug. 18): Envelope, carried by Captain James A. Mollison on his first solo record flight from Dublin to New York, with his own signature and endorsed "Carried by me on first first Transatlantic solo East-West crossing". On front with golden Dublin City Seal with adjacent endorsement of Alfred Byrne, Lord Mayor of Dublin' at left, plus another smaller red seal of St. John signed 'Jas. W. Britain Mayor of St. John, New Brunswick' with add. note 'received Aug.19/32'. On reverse with the golden New York City Seal and 'received at New York by T.H.Ayder Aug. 21/32' in manuscript, in absence of Mayor Jimmy Walker. An attractive and rare cover. One of only seven covers carried.
