1879 Pre-UPU cover from Zacapa to R. Matthews in London, bearing a mixed franking of 1878 'Indian women' ½r yellow-green and 2r. carmine-rose in combination with 1879 'Quetzal' 1r. green & black, all tied by numeral "18", part of black "CORREOS..." despatch c.d.s. alongside, and on the reverse with octagonal "CORREOS GUATEMALA/DIC 11 1879" d/s in blue as well as two red London '19 Jan 80' arrival datestamps. The cover reduced at right so that a further ½r. stamp (adhesive or 1875 postal stationery envelope), which would complete the rate of 4 Reales, is missing. Nevertheless, a rare mixed franking of which only three are recorded (according to H. Madden). Ex Roger Frigstad and Henry Madden collections. AN ATTRACTIVE PART COVER, AND A GUATEMALA RARITY.
