1750/2000 (ca.), LE HAVRE, extraordinary collection in 60 volumes, offering a vast span of POSTAL HISTORY from pre-philately to modern perdiod with countless of covers. Since Le Havre is a major port of France there is (inevitably) a great range of (stampless) TRANSATLANTIC MAIL in both directions to be found, beginning from early markings (COL PAR LE HAVRE and COLONIES PAR LE HAVRE). Furthermore all types of postmarks like numerals, c.d.s., slogan marks, machine cancellations, special event postmarks, ship mail, railway marks, postage due markings, meter marks, 1828 red rectangular mark (according to vendor only ten known) etc. Also included are ppc, perfins, bills of exchage, booklets, vignettes, military mail/field post etc. etc. Really a most impressive collection, a close examination will reveal all its hidden gems and secrets - stated to an acquisition price of apprx. £20000.
