BRITISH SOMALILAND 1898: Indian p/s card 1a on 1½a. blue used REGISTERED from BERBERA to Darmstadt, Germany via ADEN, upgraded QV 2a. blue tied by "B" in circle of bars (Proud K1), with boxed "R/BERBERA" registration h/s (Proud R5), small "BERBERA/OC 25/98" despatch cds (Proud D1), uncircled "ADEN/REG/OC 26/98" d/s (worn state of Proud R7) and Darmstadt '5.11.98' arrival cds, addressed to 'Freiherr von Dörnberg, Drag. Regt. 23, Darmstadt', showing on the reverse a private photograph of a Somaliland native scene. The card with a corner crease and short tear at lower left otherwise fine. A VERY SCARCE (if not unique) REGISTERED CARD FROM BERBERA IN THE LATE 19th CENTURY.
