Alle Welt: THE DREAM CAME TRUE - No serious philatelist can deny that he never had the dream to fill
THE DREAM CAME TRUE - No serious philatelist can deny that he never had the dream to fill an ancient Schaubek album with all the classic and semi-classic rarities, and to finish the target of building a more or less complete collection. Well, here we are: 1840/1930, tremendous and breath-taking used and mint collection "All World", virtually/more or less complete in five light brown Schaubek albums (which contain all album pages, as issued by publisher), nearly all spaces are filled accordingly, sometimes even supplemented by covers; only on some occassions there were made some concessions. What should the describer highlight, what should he mention, what should he indicate only and what should he omit? Undoubtedly an ungrateful task! TO BE MENTIONED: Bavaria from 1kr. black, Belgium 1918 Red Cross, 1919/1920 Albert with Helmet, Brunswick from 1st issue, Bulgaria early stamps, Denmark incl. 2 Rigsbank Skilling, German Empire Eagle Shields, German colonies/P.O.'s abroad, Saar incl. overprints, Finland early issues, France with lovely section classics, War Orphans and general issues colonies/P.O.'s abroad, Gibraltar 1925 £5 mint, Greece Large Hermes heads, covers and Olympic Games, GB incredibly rich incl. all key stamps, Ireland overprints, Iceland early stamps and overprints, Italy/areas incl. lovely Fiume and P.O.'s abroad to high values and the usual suspects, Liechtenstein good sets, Luxembourg convincing, a delightful Malta, Netherlands from 1st issue and high values, nice Norway, Austria from 1st issue, Poland from 1860 10kop., a rich Portugal from classic issues and good sets, Romania classic stamps, Imperial Russia incl. high values, Sweden early material, Värnamo and UPU sets, Switzerland with classics, Serbia early material, powerful Spanish classics, an attractive Turkey, a fine Hungary, Wurttemberg incl. better stamps; Colonial Africa showing an overwhelming rational exuberance of Belgian, British, French, Portuguese, Italian and Spanish colonies; Colonial and Independant America not less impressive incl. a lovely Brazil from 1st issue and a strong USA incl. classic/semi-classic issues and Zeppelin set. The final album is occupied by Australasia with Afghanistan early issues, India and states from QV, Ceylon from imperfs, CHINA from Large Dragons is always welcome, also foreign P.O.'s incl. rare issues, Lebanon and Syria surprisingly good, Hongkong really impressive, Iraq from overprints, Korea, Straits/Malaysian states and areas, Kuwait, Macao well filled, an eyecatcher Mongolia, Dutch Indies as to be expected, Persia will definitely attract attention, Philippines not so bad, Portuguese India rarely seen, a solid Thailand, Tannu Touva deserves a mention, Australia/states/NZ/Oceania well collected with many rare stamps (also Fiji overprints). And the clue of the story is: Either you spend a whole life, countless hours of stamp-hunting and enormous amounts of money to form a collection like this, or you simply buy this lot. This is an opportunity you may have only once, and then never again. As one can expect, the whole collection is pictured online.
