1898 "CHEFOO/25 MAY 98" dollar chop in BLUE on Japanese postal stationery card 3s. green to Strassburg, Alsace, Germany via Japanese P.O. Shanghai and Hong-Kong, uprated Japan 1883 1s. green and cancelled "SHANGHAI I.J.P.O./27 MAY 98" cds, also with large circled Shanghai dollar shop in black and small British "SHANGHAI/C/MY 28/98" cds on back, Hong-Kong transit dater and Strassburg '5.7.98' arrival cds on front. The German text reading "In Chefoo it is now lively, England has raised the Flag at Wei-hai-wei yesterday". The postcard toned and with traces of ageing but still an interesting item bearing the scarce Chefoo dollar chop in blue.
