1885-91 Overprints on Straits Settlements 2c. bright rose with horizontal Type 30 overprint "SELANGOR", unused with original gum; some very light foxing on some perfs at top and a minor wrinkle in one corner otherwise fine. THIS IS THE RAREST STAMP OF SELANGOR, ONLY THE FOLLOWING THREE ARE RECORDED (all in similar quality): 1) our stamp ex William Frazer 2) Young collection lot 455 which is ex Wood lot 657 3) Commander Smith collection 1992 lot 944 described as "two recorded" and later in the George Bloch (1996 lot 203) collection. The Stanley Gibbons catalogue doesn t price the Selangor rarities correctly; SG 4 ("wide N") with three mint known + several more in used is priced at 9000 GBP in mint, our SG 38b should accordingly be catalogued higher (at least 15.000 GBP) as only three are known and no used. For comparaison we sold in our November 2011 sale an unused Johore SG 1 for 25.000 EUR of which nine are known.
