1945, March, Greece National Resistance, commercial cover from Serres addressed for Thessaloniki, franked with 5 leva provisional issue (Hellas cat #R39 d, rare variety). The franking was not accepted by the Thessaloniki post office and the letter was taxed at 10 drachmas (double the defficiency) with the use of five 2 New Drachmai stamps. Rare commercial use of this provisional issue. Vertical fold through the cover affecting the stamps on the reverse.
