1695 Entire letter from Valence to GENEVA, Switzerland with straightliner "DEVALENCE" and postage due mark for 2 sols on front, red wax seal on back, fine. The letter is not dated, but the straightliner is known on few covers all used in 1895, the year when the handstamps were introduced in France. (Mail from southern and central France to foreign countries was collected at the special post office in Lyon.) An early letter from the Dauphiné, Admin. of Claude de Peletier (Farm of the group Pajot-Rouillé).
