1950 Independence / POs, rates & routes: 20-4-1950 early dated (by 3 days) official Independence Day airmail 1st Day Cover from TIRAT ZVI to SAN FRANCISCO, franked 80pr at the FA-2a postage period rate to US, using pre-1st day (23-4-50) x2 pairs 40pr (Ba29) tied by 2 strikes of local postmark with British airmail label on front; slit open at top. Manuscript notation on back that May 8 is first day of issue is erronious. Scarce airmail from small locale; estimated value $300+
