Wartime air mail from Australia: 17 JAN 1941 reg. a/m cv ex MOUNT LAWLEY (Perth) to RLZ, franked 1Sh 9d & tied by 2 strikes of local pmk on front + 1x on back; opened/resealed by censor & cv tied by Censor 3 h/s; b/s same day REG WEST AUSTRALIA transit; as per franking, cv charged period 1S 1d rate to Palestine: carried locally via MMA to DALY WATERS, then via QANTAS to BRISBANE, via ANA to SYDNEY; then via QANTAS direct to TIBERIAS via eastern leg of period "Horseshoe Route" (not via CAIRO & surface to Pal. per Boyle as cv lacks Egyptian censor marks), as dir. flight possible reason why no Pal. censor marks, here on flight WS-54; b/s 31 JA 41 REG HAIFA transit, same day REG TLV transit & same day RLZ arrival; cut open at top.
