1869/1871, British Columbia 5c on 3c Perf 14 (Scott 9), tied by well-struck large blue "Wells Fargo Express Victoria" oval cancel on cover with "Paid Barnard's British Columbia Express Victoria and New Westminster" in ribbon corner card, addressed to George Taylor, Russ House, Portland Oregon, Very Fine, ex Lichtenstein from the 2004 sale -- per Richard Frajola -- Alfred Lichtenstein formed one of the greatest collections of western express postal history of the twentieth century. The nucleus of the collection came from H.B. Phillips, an ex Wells, Fargo employee. Lichtenstein's daughter, Louise Boyd Dale, expanded her father's collection. Portions of the Dale - Lichtenstein collections have been sold in several HR Harmer auctions. A major portion of western express material was sold in 1999 but the material that was judged the best was sold in two sales in 2004.
