1855 (Dec): Diadem 8 d. golden yellow, a splendid example with huge margins, internal bend and just cut at top left corner where overlapped by 1854 Laureated 2 d. ultramarine, used on 1856 registered double rate cover from Warwick to the Bank of Australasia, Ipswich, Moreton Bay District (Queensland), cancelled by "81" barred numeral handstamps in black. Reverse with oval framed "WARWICK / ♚ / NEW S. WALES" despatch (May 17), Crowned "DRAYTON" transit and "IPSWICH" arrival - this last with "MY 20" date inverted, all struck in black. The registration specific 6 d. adhesive was issued on Jan 1, 1856 and a registered cover without this stamp is most unusual. A charming cover bearing the 8 d. golden yellow -one of the finest such known bearing this rarity.rnrnProvenance: Collection "V.P.
