India Mutiny Medal, 1857-58 clasp Defence of Lucknow to G. Matthews, 78th Highlanders. He was wounded in the shoulder by a musket ball 25.09.1857 at Lucknow. He served in S. Cousan 1844-45 and Persia 1857 (entitled to medal), joined 17th foot Aug 1841 and 78th foot Feb 1847. Discharged unfit 1860. Some rubbing to the reverse of medal o/w GVF with minor contact marks
