lot # 50570 - Philately > Unusual Arab-Israeli postal links
Iranian postal boycott of Israel: 17-12-1982 a/m comm. cv ex KARLSRUHE to Nuclear Research Center YAVNE, meter franked 1.30DM; routed via IRAN (as postal relations with Israel existed until some time in 1982) but now marked by TEHERAN PO English IM h/s K-Type-Ia "THEREIS(sic) NO POSTAL RELATIONS | BETWEEN IRANAND(sic) ISRAEL" & returned to sender. Postal history gem: though not b/s'd, as transit time was c. 2 weeks to Iran, this cv is earliest known w/official Iranian marking of suspended service; less than 30 examples known such marked. Here ironic address.
