lot # 50562 - Philately > Unusual Arab-Israeli postal links
Egyptian "No Service" mail sent to Israel: 23-7-1956 a/m cv ex ALEXANDRIA to SOUTH AMBLTON (UK) whose sender & addressee details erroniously misplaced on front - franked 52m & dispatched ex ALEX., but as sender's name "Esmaiel" & appears in addressee field, Egy. PO treated it as "Israel", censored it (K-Type-7, #80) & marked "no relaciones" + "retour" (red m/s), indicating address in r/a field (intended address); dispatched to UK where sender's name again misunderstood as "Israel" & erroniously re-routed there, not locally delivered as intended; b/s 17-8-56 TLV arr. Unusually not censored in Isr. Rare instance of Egy. mail reaching Israel; only one known Egy.-UK-Isr.
