Westbound mail: 17 JAN 1924 "Overland Mail Baghdad-Haifa" cv ex E.S. Seesna handstamp maker BAGHDAD to J'LEM, franked 6 Anna per period rate (3A letter + 3A add. weight) using 6A sgl tied by local pmk & front tied by Collins IM h/s HS-8 (this of interest as Seesna associated w/type HS-9 & only 8 cv's known tied by HS-8); b/s 19 JA 24 J'LEM arr. - this unusual as a) very fast transit time for this service & b) no Haifa transit pmk as normally found: cv possibly routed via Amman to J'lem as would be in 1925 during Syrian Druze revolt; normally would be transported Baghdad - Ramadi - Ruthba - Damascus - Beirut, then rail to Haifa & transfer to J'lem. Slit open at top; overland mail to Palestine is scarce.
