Obv.: Heb. leg (Song of Songs) "On the Day of Their Wedding & on the Day of Their Hearts' Happiness on A' of Rosh Chodesh Shvat [1st day month of Shvat, of year] 658 Excluding Thousand Year [w/o incl. '5' in "5658" - 24 January 1898]; 3 cities listed: Frankfurt am Main, Mannheim & Grebenstein; 9-line leg. in Ger. & Heb. "Our Children Siegmund Rosen- baum [Heb. name] Shimshon & Dora Hamburger [Heb. name] Tirza on the occastion of their wedding, commissioned by Karoline & Leopold Hamburger [K.u.L.H.]". Rev.: shields of Hesse & Hamburg under wedding canopy; pair of clasped hands below; Heb. leg. (ex "Song of Songs"): "Lovely Are You My Wife as 'Tirza' [play on words for 'very desired woman'] etc". Designer may be Jewish medallist Max Lewy, Frankfurt, who designed wedding commem. plaque for Adolf Hamburger, 1913 (Forrer v7 p553). Groom (1860-1942, d. Ramat Gan) was a Director of Palatine Bank, Mannheim; wife (1876-1939, d.
