1915, ROBERT EDWIN PEARY, handwritten letter (June 1st) to President Kolbe (Parke Rexford Kolbe who was then president of the Buchtel college which was transformed to the University of Akron), in which he promises Mr. Kolbe to hold a speech at the college referring to the "winning" of the Pole and its meaning for achievements and ideals in general. (PEARY 1856-1920 was an US engineer and Polar explorer who claimed having been the first man to reach the geographic North Pole in 1909)
