Kreigsmarine: 1939-45 U-Boat 'Trench-Art' desk ornament. Solid cast & cut brass anchor with flat tynes & moveable chain loop. Anchor bow chisel-cut engraved 'Lorient 1941'. Separate U-Boat control type wheel set over (superimposing) anchor - the whole evidently representing a Driver Petty Officer (Kraftfahrmaat) trade/rank badge. Screw hole in base to mount on a stand. Evidence of original gilt wash. VGC. Extremely rare. U-Boat 'souvenir' of the U-boat 'happy time' (P)
