Germany: large bronze medal of the New Jewish Hospital in Hamburg, 1841, by Hans Friedrich Alsing; size: 45mm; weight: 42.35g, in EF. obverse: the home with German legend "Frau Betty Heine zum andenken erbaut von ihrem Gatten" ('[dedicated to] Mrs. Betty Heine built in memory of her husband'). reverse: Heine's bust & legend "Menschenliebe ist die Krone aller Tugenden" ('Human love is the crown of all virtues'). Salomon Heine (1766-1844) was Jewish German banker & philanthropist, Heinrich Heine's uncle & principal benefactor of the hospital. An identical medal in similar grade sold at auction (2014) for €2500.
