Italy: Jesus medal in white metal (silver?), c. 16th C.; maker-marked "B" - this rare; size: 36mm; weight: 23g; thickness: 3mm. obverse: left facing Christ, with Hebrew initial "Alef" (for 'Adoneinu' - 'Our Lord') & "Yeshu" ('Jesus') on either side. reverse: 5-line Hebrew legend (with incorrect letters) based on Hill p.50 ex. 2a (but "Adam" twice) : משיח | מלך בא בש | לום ואדמ א | דם עשוי | חי. Portrait of Christ said to be of Venetian School; medal issued in 16th Century to Jewish converts to Christianity. With loop through hole for wearing; a similar medal (38mm in bronze) to this one was sold at auction (2009) for $1300.
