Tuesday Apr 09, 2019 20:00 Asia/Jerusalem

Pocket Siddur "Zichron Yerushalem" (Sfaradi), 1925; published by Rabbi Y. Sheloush & Y. Abiketzitz, Jerusalem & printed by Dfus Horev; c65 x 88mm, 464 pages all intact; bound in hardcover (a few small worm holes) - possibly not original but contemporary to period of publication, all still bound together; pages mostly near-mint, a few still uncut; contains many supplements for holidays, but unusually doesn't include Mincha-Maariv for Hol (weekdays). Rare origin. One of the publishers may be Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Shloush (Chelouche), son of Rabbi David Shloush, a Rosh Yeshiva in Marrakech Morocco; Rabbi Yosef lived in the Old City of Jerusalem, taught at the Porat Yosef Yeshiva under Rabbis Nissim Alisher & Ezra Attiya (among his students was Rabbi Ovadia Yosef); served as the head of the Chevrah Kadisha & Av Bet Din of the Sephardic Community of Jerusalem; in the early-mid 1920's he sold religious books. In his various capacities it was said that he married off half of Jerusalem and buried the other half. Rav Yosef Yitzchak ran a minyan in the old city of Jerusalem at a shul called Tzuv Devash.
