Germany: Kornjudenmedaille "Corn Jew" medal in silver alloy(?), 1740; based on Christian Wermuth; 32mm, 11.25g. Obverse: Jewish peddler (no landscape) facing right, with Devil on corn sack & legend "DU KORN IUDE." | "THEUREZEIT". Reverse: horizontal grain sifter & legend (Proverbs 11:26) "those who withhold corn are cursed by the people" ("WER KORN INNHAELT DEM FLUCHEN DIE LEUTHE"). Similar but smaller than 1694 original (JM-4 & 110, Brettauer-1901); unlisted. Apprently re-struck using re-cut dies; probably issued in occurrence with period of food scarcity or inflation, as happened in 1696 per Friedenburg. Rare.
