US: American Jewish Congress in Philadelphia delegates token, 1920; silvered bronze(?); by Popular E&M Co. of NY; size: 34mm; weight: 9.65g. Founded in 1918 by a group of Jewish American leaders dissatisfied with the "American Jewish Committee", to represent American Jewish interests at the Versailles Conference, & convened at Independence Hall in Phil. to draft a program for submission. After this Congress the AJC was supposed to disband; it did and was resurrected the next day under the chairmanship of Rabbi Stephen Samuel Wise (Reform/Zionist Rabbi), as a permanent institution to represent American Jewry in domestic & international affairs.
