Germany > Bavaria: Souvenir token of the March 1848 revolution, c. 1849; silver-finished tin(?); not maker-marked; size: 30mm; weight: 8.55g; thickness: 2.25mm. Obverse: 3-lined German legend within wreath: "Erinnerung an den 6. März 1848" ('Momento of the 6th of March 1848'). Reverse: 11-line German legend listing the accomlishments of the revolution, including Jewish emancipation ("Judenemancipation."). Possibly issued by the 'Fourty Eighters' (defeated revolutionaries) after the defeat of the revolution at the hands of the aristocracy. Ref: Josef Hauser "Die Münzen und Medaillen...
