Die Firma ist eine der wichtigsten Eisenbahnen aus der Pionierzeit Englands. Bereits im Jahr 1833 erhielt die Eisenbahnlinie die Konzession. Die Technik war allerdings erst vier Jahre später so weit gereift, dass man Robert Stephenson den Auftrag zum Bau einer Verbindung zwischen London und Birmingham geben konnte. 1846 fusionierte die Bahn mit der Grand Junction Railway und der Manchester & Birmingham Railway zur London & North Western Railway. Jules Rolez, Paris, wurde durch die Produktion von Kaminuhren bekannt. Kurios ist dabei sicher die Namensähnlichkeit zu Rolex. Ob diese jedoch in irgendeiner Weise förderlich war, lässt sich schwer feststellen - zumindest wurde die Firma Rolex erst 1905 und damit nach der Ausgabe dieser Aktie gegründet. 20 May 1903, 25 Ordinary Shares á 12 s/-, #197, 23.3 x 26.5 cm, black, white, folds, original signatures. Jules Rolez, Paris, was a famous producer of mantel clocks. Of course the similarity to Rolex is curious. If this was helpful in any situation – who knows? Der riesige Einkaufspalast mit spanischer Schlossfasade entstand dann um die Jahrhundertwende. 1985 legte der ägyptische Baumwollkönig Al Fayed umgerechnet mehr als eine Milliarde Euro auf den Tisch um das Kaufhaus der Königin zu erwerben.
